In honour of International Women’s Day, we chatted with some amazing women in our company to gather their thoughts to mark the occasion and gather the messages they wanted to share. Their responses were full of inspiration, highlighting the unique challenges women face, and the importance of lifting each other up.
From celebrating personal and professional wins to encouraging the next generation to dream big, their words remind us of women's incredible strength and resilience everywhere. Join us as we share their insights and celebrate the fantastic women in our lives!
I often hear the idea that women can “have it all”—balancing a career and family—and while it’s a popular narrative, I’d challenge it. I completely believe you can achieve anything you set your mind to, but having everything at once? That’s rare. I also believe that “having it all” looks unique to each person. For those at that crossroads, feeling the weight of expectations, I’d say: go easy on yourself and carve out a path that’s yours alone.”
Shahtaj, Planning Engineer said; "International Women's Day is a time to reflect on progress towards gender equality, honour the women who have inspired me, and advocate for women's rights and empowerment
I want to emphasise the importance of supporting one another. Every woman's journey is unique, so do not compare yourself with others. Celebrate your own story, achievements, and strengths, and praise the unique path you are on.”
Sally McCutheon, Commercial Policy Manager said; “International Women's Day showcases to our younger generation that women can achieve whatever they desire in life – there are no barriers.
Dream big, work hard, and go for it!”
Lauren Homewood, Craftsperson said; “Until I was asked this question I hadn’t given it much thought., International Women’s Day to me isn’t just about celebrating women. It’s about encouraging the next generation and proving that men’s jobs and women’s jobs don’t exist.
Don’t allow anyone to hold you back, the unknown might seem scary but in my experience the unknown is always worth trying!”
Pamela Mathieson, Flexibility Procurement Manager, said; “It’s a celebration of empowered women of all ages & backgrounds from around the world!
A quote I read recently “ Empowered women empower women””
As much as today is a day to celebrate the progress we have made, it is also important for us to remember how far we still must go to promote gender equality. It is important that we continue to raise awareness about issues predominantly faced by women in society and support one another where we can.”
