Strathaven Substation is situated South Lanarkshire and is of strategic importance to the transmission network in the central belt allowing the flow of energy across central and southern Scotland and beyond.
A major project at the substation commenced in May 2023 involving the replacement of a 275 kV transformer along with the installation of a shunt reactor.
With an investment cost of over £8 million, all the construction activity will take place within the existing substation footprint. Delivery will take place in stages and is scheduled for completed in quarter 2 of 2024. There will be no impact on the local community.
