Situated near to Sanquhar in Dumfries and Galloway, Glenglass Substation is strategically located to facilitate the connection of clean energy generation into the transmission network.
A major project has recently commenced at site which will create a sizeable extension to the existing substation, allowing the construction of a GIS Building (Gas Insulated Switchgear).
When work is completed in Q3 of 2026, the increased network capacity will allow future connections to take place.
The current RIIOT2 price control period will see over £2 billion of investment taking place across our network in central and southern Scotland, ensuring our transmission infrastructure is supporting the transition to net zero.
