Glenglass 132kV GIS Substation Extension

The proposed extension at Glenglass 132kV substation is located at Glenglass substation, U432N public road, near Sanquhar. SP Energy Networks (SPEN) have a licence obligation to provide electricity generators with a connection to the electrical system in this area. To enable the connection of generation in the Glenglass area and extend the 132kV network to Glenmuckloch, a new 132kV switchboard is required in Glenglass.

An application for planning permission under the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 (as amended) to construct and operate an extension to the existing Glenglass substation was submitted to Dumfries & Galloway Council in Febuary 2023. A decison to grant planning permission was given by Dumfries and Galloway Council in May 2023. (Planning Reference  - 23/0238/FUL)
