SPT Major Projects have recently commenced delivery on the refurbishment on BU overhead line in Ayrshire.
The 132kV overhead line travels between Saltcoats 132 kV substation and the north end of West Kilbride before it goes underground.
The programme of work on the 32 tower line will include tower condition assessments and resulting identified maintenance along with foundation works and conductor replacement.
At an investment level in excess of £10 million, the activity is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2025. The community liaison team have advised local residents and elected members of the work and land officers have the access arrangements in place with the landowners along the route.
This activity is part of the £2 billion plus RIIO T2 price control period currently being delivered across SPENs infrastructure in central and southern Scotland as we continue to play a central role in the nations move to net zero.
