SP Energy Networks are currently connecting Benbrack Windfarm into the electricity network.
The wind farm is located to the north of Carsphairn in Dumfries and Galloway and involves the construction of a collector substation at the wind farm along with a wood pole overhead line being erected which will connect the windfarm into the nearby steel tower overhead line which routes back into New Cumnock Substation where the clean energy will feed into the grid for wider use.
The windfarm is due to go live in Q3 of 2025 with generation capacity that will deliver electricity for over 130,000 homes allowing SP Energy Networks to continue its key role in achieving net zero, providing a more sustainable environment for the nation.
