We’re committed to providing you with a safe and reliable electricity supply. To do this we invest millions every year in upgrading and improving our electricity network. This involves carrying out regular maintenance to our electricity cables, lines, and equipment.
We could be repairing or replacing old or damaged poles, underground cables, or essential refurbishment work. For our engineers to carry out this work safely, we may occasionally need to disconnect your electricity supply for a short period.
We understand that power interruptions are inconvenient, and we recognise that certain customers may need some additional support. Therefore, we are providing you with a battery-operated generator, so you can continue to have electricity to your home during this short period of interruption.
Our portable battery powered generators provide you with a limited electricity supply while we are carrying out maintenance to our electricity cables, lines, or equipment. It’s a convenient, environmentally friendly solution that delivers the benefits of a traditional generator without the noise, fumes or emissions, or fossil fuel consumption.

FAQs
Please call the dedicated telephone number provided by our engineer on drop off and we’ll discuss the best options.
The generator will be positioned in an area agreed at set up. However, if this is not suitable, it can be repositioned. Please be aware the set is 20kg, so take care if attempting to reposition.
There is no limit to the number of devices, but if multiple appliances are connected, this will reduce the battery life of the generator and therefore, time available to power your devices. Care must be taken to ensure that any wires or cables DO NOT cause a tripping hazard.
There is a password on the top of the set, which you can use to connect your devices to. You will not be charged for Wi-Fi usage.
Keeping you safe when we visit
Sometimes we may need to visit your home to inspect or maintain our equipment. Visits are made either by one of our staff or a contractor working for us.
All of our workers carry identity cards with their company name, their own name and a colour photograph. Where possible, vehicles and clothing will also have the SP Energy Networks or contractor logo.
Any employee making a call to your home will be happy to explain the purpose of their visit and it is unusual for one of our employees to visit without arranging it in advance.
If you have doubts about whether a caller is genuine, please follow these steps.
