Our engineers will be carrying out road works next week to install new underground cables on the A75 Crocketford crossing to ensure a continued safe and resilient electricity supply for our customers in the area.
The underground cables will be laid under the A75 near Crocketford and will replace the overhead power lines currently in position. The works will begin at 9.30am on the morning of Monday 13 December and are expected to finish on the evening of Friday 17 December.
Traffic management will be in place for the duration of the week, including multiple traffic lights along the route, which is expected to add an additional five to ten minutes onto journey times using the A75 route.
Kenny Bowie, SP Energy Networks’ Head of Planning and Design for Dumfries and Galloway, said: “Removing these overhead lines and replacing them with underground electricity cables is an essential part of our work to continue to provide a resilient and reliant electricity network.
“We have traffic management in place for the duration of the works which will hopefully help keep disruption to a minimum, nonetheless, we would like apologise to anyone inconvenienced and thank everyone for their patience as we carry out these essential works.”
