SP Energy Networks is proud to support women in industry and women in sport – that’s the message thousands of rugby fans will receive when the new international rugby season kicks off later this month.
As part of SP Energy Networks’ new three-year sponsorship deal with Scotland Women, new adverts will appear in the official programmes at the Scotland men’s home international games, taking the #NotJustForBoys message directly to the fans in BT Murrayfield.
The first advert, featuring current members of the SP Energy Networks’ graduate programme and Scotland Women centre, Helen Nelson, will be published in the match day programme for Scotland v Fiji on November 10th.
Work will also be ongoing with Scottish Rugby to extend the message of support for women in the traditionally male-dominated fields of engineering and rugby, through digital channels.
The sponsorship deal was announced in September, making it the first time Scotland Women have a different sponsor on their shirts to the men’s national team, since the two unions integrated in 2009. The home and away strips now boast the distinctive SP Energy Networks green logo.
The new women’s kit will get its first outing when Scotland Women take on Italy this Sunday (November 4) in Calvisano, Italy.
CEO of SP Energy Networks Frank Mitchell said: “We are proud to sponsor Scotland Women and we are delighted that our support for women on the pitch and in the workplace will be seen by hundreds of thousands of rugby fans.
“SP Energy Networks is committed to supporting women and girls in our workplaces through apprenticeships, women returners’ programmes and through STEM education in schools, colleges and universities. Our sponsorship of Scotland Women is an extension of that and we hope our partnership will change attitudes towards women in sport and engineering.
“We wish Scotland Women great success for the exciting season ahead.”
The deal with Scottish Rugby also includes the sponsorship of Scotland under-18 and under-20 age grades.
