SP Energy Networks has announced a new campaign to engage with 3,000 schools across Central & Southern Scotland, North Wales and North-East England. This will be the second year of primary school children to benefit from the safety initiative.
‘Power Champion’ is SP Energy Networks’ school engagement programme which provides teachers with resources to prepare children and their families for power emergencies. This year teachers received posters, classroom check-lists and activity packs to use during lessons on electricity.
Schools are asked to elect a ‘Power Champion’ – a responsible pupil who is responsible for telling their classmates what to do in emergency situations. Three lucky schools will also receive iPad minis! School pupils have been asked to complete the SPEN activity packs which include a special drawing competition. The winning designs in each area will receive an iPad mini for their school.
