Llandudno in Wales saw the unsung heroes in the area recognised at this year’s Your Champions Awards where SP Energy Networks Operations Director, Guy Jefferson was the executive host for the night.

The guest of honour was rugby legend Phil Bennett OBE who enthralled the audience with his Barbarian and British Lions experiences; however the real stars of the night were the nominees from the region recognised for their volunteering, fundraising, sport and community work.

This year’s Champion of Champions was Irfon Williams from Bangor who in March was diagnosed with bowel cancer, and although receiving extensive treatment launched he has already raised over £37k to support cancer treatment in North Wales.

The Champion Person of the Year was Mike Peters, lead singer for the Alarm and Big Country who was first diagnosed with leukaemia 20 years ago and set up the Love Hope Strength Foundation and has since donated over £150K to local hospital cancer care.

The ScottishPower Foundation has been hosting these awards for 17 years and a great night is had by all, celebrating the unsung Champions of Wales.
