The interest for SP Energy Networks' drawing competition for primary schools in Central and Southern Scotland, Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and North Shropshire has been really encouraging so far. To be in with a chance of winning their school a free iPad-mini, the competition, to increase the awareness of our work has challenged school pupils to submit pictures of power emergency situations.
The competition is organised as part of the ‘Power Champion’ campaign – our school engagement programme which provides teachers with resources to prepare children and their families for power emergencies. This semester, teachers received activity packs to use during lessons to educate their pupils on the dangers of electricity and the importance of staying safe around it.
The competition has already received outstanding entries from school children with sketches of pylons, substations and an excellent knowledge of what to do in a power emergency situation.
One lucky school in Scotland, North Wales and North-East England will be picked as a winner by SP Energy Networks after the competition closes on Monday 30 November.
