Our continued response to the COVID-19 Crisis

09/11/2020

Over the last few weeks, a huge amount has changed. Yet throughout this time of uncertainty and disruption, the UK continues to have one of the most reliable energy networks in the world.

As the network operator for Central and Southern Scotland, Merseyside, Cheshire, North and Mid Wales and North Shropshire our top priority during the COVID-19 crisis is to keep the power flowing for our 3.5million customers, while ensuring critical national infrastructure sites like hospitals receive the vital electricity supply they need.

Our Customer Service Director Guy Jefferson, said: "I want to reassure our customers, stakeholders and communities that, while differing restrictions are in place across the UK, our engineers are still working round the clock to maintain a safe and reliable service.

"As at the start of the pandemic, our working practices continue to reflect the latest government guidelines across our three operational areas in England, Scotland and Wales to ensure the safety of our customers, colleagues and contractors at all times. We have been implementing social distancing measures since the start of the UK’s COVID-19 outbreak and have additional processes for critical frontline operational staff and control centre teams who cannot undertake their key roles from home to ensure they can maintain operations safely.

"We know our customers are relying on us now, more than ever to keep them safe and warm by ensuring the power continues to flow during these times."

Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to deliver our key role in keeping the lights on in the communities we serve.
