Careers event encourages pupils to reach new heights

05/11/2015

We opened the doors of our Careers and Training Event facility at Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus on 28th October 2015. It was to welcome senior pupils of Cumbernauld Academy who were gaining an insight into the World of Work. The 15 pupils had the opportunity to undertake practical training on our overhead lines and enjoy a tour of the state-of-the-art workshops and facilities.

Our partners - North Lanarkshire Council, Microcom Training, Twintangibles and Forth Valley College – helped us offer information on careers, support and training options available to young people. For example, the pupils heard about relevant vacancies, modern apprenticeships and how to apply for jobs in the future.

Prior to the event, the pupils were coached on application and interview skills, asked to research SP Energy Networks and prepare a CV. On the day, they experienced worthwhile mock interviews with ourselves and North Lanarkshire Council, because knowledge is power.
